What was Pampachay?
Pampachay is the practice of bringing balance back by reducing our resistance to receiving and expressing things like love, gratitude, and forgiveness. It was translated by Spanish Christians as atonement, repentance, or confession but today the practice evolves through the literal translation of the word which means to level the land.
Pampachay was an ancient practice to promote harmony.
When Do We Level the Land?
We level the land when we wish to build something or grow something from a strong and nourishing foundation. With this intention and with this practice we participate in bringing harmony back not just to ourselves but to any and all beings.
The translation, to level the land, serves as a reminder that our hearts, like land, need to be cleared, weeded, and leveled before we plant the seeds for a new harvest.
Our resentments, discord, and unresolved differences carry a heaviness akin to weeds, old roots, dead stalks.
But this heaviness or what we sometimes refer to as negative energy stems from our own resistance to send and receive.
This 20-minute meditation allows us access to what we are resisting.
